The problem that this presents is that vista developers cannot target the the client framework if they want their application to run on both XP and Vista, which is a shame. Nevertheless, this is the way forward because as the .NET framework inflates to .NET 4.0 and then 5.0 you basically have a trimmed down "client" version, and a "server" version with all the trimmings.
